Mission

Leadership Initiatives provides entrepreneurial, leadership, and project management training for university students worldwide through turning their ideas for community change into sustainable development projects.

Method
Preparing
  • A university in a target community is identified for partnership.
  • US and Local Staff visit the university to establish the partnership.
  • 15-20 students are selected through face-to-face interviews onsite
Learning
  • Students are provided entrepreneurial, leadership and management training through hands-on exercises and lectures led by LI staff and local business, political and social leaders.
  • Students work with the local community to identify development opportunities and design sustainable solutions.
  • Students form groups, create plans of action, and initiate partnerships with local institutions.

Sustaining
To ensure year-round sustainability:

  • Leadership Initiatives provides initial start-up capital for student projects.
  • Local businesses and community members are brought in to provide sustainable funding.
  • In-country offices assist students as projects grow and progress.
Vision

Leadership Initiatives aspires to give university students around the world the opportunity to effect sustainable change within their nations. These young citizens have a unique perspective into their communities that allows them to identify the obstacles to development. As they work through these barriers, the students will transform their communities by the creation of efficient service initiatives. Building upon this standard of honest and responsible leadership, they will be empowered to lead the people and industry of their countries.
